The Minister affirmed that the Government intends to provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable solar energy for the citizens of Malaysia. Adjusting from the net billing concept to pure net energy metering, the revised Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme will improve ROIs and increase electricity savings per month.

Besides of to create more awareness about the new enhanced NEM mechanism, SEDA intends to promote the purchase mode options available for customers. Outright purchases can be made with cash or through loans. Direct contracts with solar investors/lessors or SARE contracts with TNB can be agreed upon with solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) or through solar leasing.

This briefing session will be a platform to provide information to all existing and potential solar PV investors to facilitate the NEM programme and allow consumers to have their own solar PV system on their rooftops.

The objectives of the briefing session are as follows:

  1. To promote and increase the number of companies to become one of SEDA’s registered solar PV investor.
  2. As a platform to brief further about the application process and terms of condition to become SEDA’s registered solar PV investors.
  3. To promote Supply Agreement for Renewable Energy (SARE).
  4. To promote business networks among RE industry players.
  5. To introduce SEDA’s facilitation service for the public on NEM calculator and RE portal.
