KUALA LUMPUR: The International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2018) is targeting RM2.5 billion in business leads via the participation of more than 250 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from over 35 countries.

To be held from Oct 17- 20, IGEM 2018 will focus on sustainable cities, highlighting innovations in five key sectors of green technology – renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste technology, management and green manufacturing.

In a statement today, event organiser, Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) said the event would also feature the business matching programme, with support from various agencies such as the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and the Malaysian Timber Certification Council.

Meanwhile, Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin said IGEM had established itself as Southeast Asia’s largest trade event for green technologies and eco-solutions.

“This ideal platform for solution providers and green energy businesses has provided high potential opportunities to the fast expanding ASEAN market by showcasing the latest innovations to policy makers, government organisations investors and the mass market,” she said.

Last year’s edition of the event generated over RM9 billion in business leads, attracting over 34,000 visitors from 38 countries, including delegates, dignitaries and companies from China, Japan, South Korea, the European Union, the United States and ASEAN member countries.

Organised by the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change via GreenTech Malaysia, IGEM is the region’s biggest green technology business and innovation platform for key industry players to showcase the latest breakthroughs in green technology.
